Barcelona only awaiting Deadline Day developments for Todibo and Malcom
With Denis Suárez undergoing a medical in London and the French centre-back surplus to requirement for now. It's looking unlikely that Malcom will leave.
Barça are spending the final 48 hours of the winter transfer window with relative calm. The club has brought in two reinforcements - Jeison Murillo, who now hardly even figures in Valverde's squad lists, and Kevin-Prince Boateng, who was given a debut run-out at the Sánchez Pizjuán and has the task of stepping into the team to give Luis Suárez time to rest. The club isn't planning on bringing anyone else in but they will be following Jean-Clair Todibo's awkward situation at Toulouse with interest right up until midnight tomorrow. Todibo is set to join in June, - Valverde doesn't want to have a surplus of defenders and if Todibo ends up bringing his move forward, Barça will have six centre-backs. However, there is a chance that Todibo could arrive in Barcelona this month.
Malcom likely to be staying
The only other, vaguely-possible development that could happen at Barça on Deadline Day involves Malcom, who has attracted interest from a number of clubs - especially from China. None of that interest has evolved into anything concrete. Judging by his comments the other day, it seems he has already decided to see this season out and think about his future in the summer: "Every day I have to learn from the best players in the world", Malcom told reporters. In July, he could look to move elsewhere on loan or permanently. At his age (21), maybe he is not yet at the level to handle the demands of life at Barça.
Two in, two out
Unless anything out of the blue happens, Barça will see out the January window with two players having left - Munir and Denis Suárez, and with two recruits - Murillo and Boateng. But anything can happen in football - and as Guillermo Amor, Director of Institutional Relations points out, we'll only know for certain when the clock strikes midnight tomorrow.
