The controversial birthday party hosted by Neymar last Monday in Paris that saw teammates from PSG and Brazil gather in the French capital came at a questionable time. Many are wondering why he would chose to throw such an extravegant party when he just recieved news that he would miss ten weeks of his season, the two biggest games to date and is rehabbing his metatarsal for the second consecutive year.

But according to the leading Brazilian website Uol, the birthday party was not of Neymar's doing. The party was due to an agreement signed by Neymar with several brands.

Red Bull, EA Sports, Beats and Nike all involved

A contract between Neymar and Red Bull with an agreement for "an annual celebration with more than 500 people" on the date of his birthday with the brand being responsible for reserving the venue, drinks, DJ and catering. The agreement was signed between the player and Red Bull, who have deals with various nightclubs around the world with similarly-themed events in and around the date of his birthday.

In addition, Red Bull offer Neymar the DJ and the transport for the player to organise another two events during the year according to Uol. The company is the one that organises the end of the year bash on the beach in Bahía.

During the party, Beats released a new model with Neymar's name attached to it and EA Sports organised a FIFA tournament among the guests.

Neymar denies everything

Although Neymar's jacket is lined with the Red Bull logo and he appears throughout the night with a can of the energy drink for photo opportunities, the PSG attacker has denied the report published in Uol.

"We will put the truth out where it is absent in the reporting from Uol," he said on Instagram. "1. There are no clauses in his contract with Red Bull to organise birthday parties for Neymar. 2. The birthday party was not organised to launch Beats products. 3. The singer Marilia Mandonça was not contracted for the party and she did not do a concert at the event. #FakeNews #InsaneNews."
