Ashley Young 'nudges' Ángel di Maria into metal fence
In a full throttle Champions League tie at Old Trafford, the Manchester United defender was lucky to avoid a red card for the incident.
From the first minute it was clear that this Champions League first-leg was going to be a blood and guts affair. And some have suggested that Manchester United's Ashley Young took that description too literally.
Young 'nudges' Di Maria
Already in the book from bringing down PSG's Kylian Mbappé as he looked to scamper away from him, another high speed challenge was to have fans of the French club screaming for the experienced full-back to take an early trip down the Old Trafford tunnel.
As the ball went loose beside the touchline at the United's right-back area of the field, the Argentine winger sprinted towards it, hoping to prevent it going out of play. Young was paying close attention to the former United player and as he tracked his run gave him a slight nudge as the ball ran out of play. Due to the pace at which the PSG man was travelling, this contact took him flying off-balance into the metal fence of the stand, also colliding a little with the seated security man.
Players from both sides surrounded the ref, each side claiming innocence or a second yellow respectively. Social media lit up too with a variety of opinions...
