Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has confirmed there will be no respite for Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of the Serie A side’s Champions League clash against Atlético Madrid next week, confirming that the Portugal captain will be in the starting XI for this weekend’s league fixture against Frosinone.

Allegri is expected to make some changes for the visit of the 19th-placed side in Serie A but his star forward will not be among them as the Juve boss aims to carry his side’s momentum into Friday night’s game and across to the European encounter against Diego Simeone’s team on 20 February.

“The team is doing well and all the lads are focused on the end of the season,” Allegri told a news conference on Thursday. “From tomorrow we’re going into a nice run of games where we will be required to pñlay a lot of matches. Cristiano will play from the start [against Frosinone],” Allegri said, adding that Paulo Dybala will also be in the XI in the Allianz Stadium.

Chiellini, Bonucci back for Juventus

Bonucci will play in defence. It will be difficult for Chiellini to start but if possible we’ll get him on for a while. Barzagli will also be on the bench. He has recovered well and we’re happy to have him back,” Allegri said of his back line, which has hit by injuries in recent weeks.

Juventus captain Chiellini has been struggling with a calf injury picked up during the surprise 3-0 Coppa Italia defeat at Atalanta but Allegri said his veteran defender would be fit to face Atlético in a few days’ time.

“We need to beat Frosinone because a victory will give us another boost ahead of the Champions League game,” Allegri concluded.
