Recent racist graffiti aimed at PSG striker Kylian Mbappé daubed in the Paris underground system is sounding alarm bells in the country with many considering it an attack on "the diversity and image of the nation". "The perpetrators are not only attacking Mbappé, but the rest of French society" claimed the Attorney General who has opened an investigation over the matter.

There is much consternation in French society as the 20-year-old Mbappé is dearly cherished by many and with his father being from Cameroon and his mother Algerian, his background is a cosmopolitan mix that SOS Racismo claim France is proud of. They added in a declaration: "When a player is attacked for the colour of their skin, this is also a direct attack on the French Republic". The French League Federation (LFP) have also condemned the attack and have averted that severe sanctions will be handed out to any individuals or fan collectives involved in racist chanting at any stadium.

The French train network (SNCF) have handed over video footage to the French police in an effort to identify the perpetrators with the offending graffiti now removed from the train carriages.
