FIFA ban Chelsea from signing players until summer 2020

FIFA issued a statement this morning to confirm that Chelsea will be unable to sign player for the next two transfer windows for their involvement in the transfer of minors. World Football's governing body announced that the Londoners will not be allowed to register new players until the summer of 2020. According to FIFA, Chelsea breached Article 19 of the regulations of the status and transfer of players, concerning the transfer of 29 players under the age of 18 and committed various other infractions with the registration of those players. The club also broke Article 18bis which concerns transfer agreements which might influence rival clubs or third parties.

The ban will affect all aspects of incoming and outgoing transfers at Chelsea, with the exception of coaches, the women's team and futsal team. The club was also served an economic fine of 600,000 Swiss francs and given a period of 90 days to regulate the situation of the under-age players involved.
