Julián Álvarez keeps quiet as Madrid clubs war around him

Atlético cries out into the void over the Julián Álvarez situation. The rojiblanco club repeatedly insists that the player has never told them he wants to leave. Atlético has also stated on multiple occasions that the footballer has not once gone to the Metropolitano offices with the intention of requesting an exit from the club, with whom he is under contract until 2030.

The truth is that Julián Álvarez has not publicly said anywhere that he wants to leave Atlético. He has not made any statement expressing a desire to depart, nor to join Barcelona, Real Madrid or Arsenal. It is also true, however, that when asked about his future he has not been definitive.

But where exactly has Álvarez said he wants to leave Atlético? Which outlet has reported it directly? It is claimed that the striker has expressed a desire to move on, and that he would like to wear the blaugrana shirt. It is also said that his agents are actively working the market, which is clear, and understood to be with the player’s knowledge. That is their job: to promote the player while significant sums are at stake. Reports suggest contacts have been made with PSG, Barcelona and Arsenal, with the aim of preparing a potential transfer.

We do not know whether the player will speak to the media during the World Cup, nor whether he will offer any brief comments or avoid the press altogether. He is likely to be a major focus of attention, both for Argentina’s participation in the tournament and for his future. Whether he addresses his situation one way or another remains to be seen.

Atlético continues to defend its position, both against Barcelona’s approach and Real Madrid’s alleged interference. The Catalan club still believes it can sign the player, although Atlético has rarely been as firm as it has been in responding to their interest, as well as to Madrid’s. Atlético not only feels capable of retaining its key players, but also of continuing to strengthen its squad year after year.

Atlético cries out into the void. It maintains that Julián Álvarez is not for sale, that it will not negotiate with any club, and that he remains an important part of the 2026-27 project.
