UEFA file charge against Ramos for 'receiving a yellow card on purpose'

UEFA's disciplinary committee has officially opened a case against Sergio Ramos for 'recieving a yellow card on purpose' against Ajax in the last 16 first leg game in the Champions League on February 13.

Ramos spoke in the mixed zone after the game and said he had forced the card.

"Looking at the result, I'd be lying if I said I didn't force [the booking].

"It is not to underestimate the opponent nor to think that the series is over, but in football you have to make tough decisions," he said after the game.

He backtracked soon after, however, and said "I want to make it clear that it hurts more than anyone, I have not forced the card, as I did not against Roma in my previous Champions League match."
