Sergio Ramos calls on Real Madrid fans: "For a magical night"
Los Blancos captain got the word out to supporters to fill the streets around the Santiago Bernabéu ahead of the Copa del Rey Clásico against Barcelona.
Real Madrid are all set for the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final against Barcelona. Well, almost. As the players went through their final day build-up routine, captain Sergio Ramos put out a call to the fans to become the 12th man.
Madridistas, get in place
On one of the most important fixtures left in this season's calendar - victory would see them almost touch domestic silverware (although Valencia and Betis will have something to say about that) - Ramos posted a video on his social media account, encouraging Los Blancos faithful to get the noise building from 19:15 local time. The Clásico kicks off at 21:00 but Ramos wants the Plaza de los Sagrados Corazones jam-packed ahead of time to welcome the team as they arrive at the Santiago Bernabéu.
"For a magical night", he wrote along with the hashtag #QuedadaRealMadrid, referring to the meeting up of everyone together.
This build-up has become a bit of a tradition on big match days in Madrid. Against Atlético, in the return leg of the Champions League quarter-finals in 2015; in the semi-final that same year against Juve; in the quarter-final of the 2016 Champions League against Wolfsburg; in the semi-final against Man City, against Bayern in 2017 (fourth round) and in the 2018 semi-final...
Today the Bernabéu will be full for the first time this season, and Madrid want the streets around the stadium to be that way too.
