45,000 advance tickets sold for Atlético-Barça Liga Iberdrola game

Atlético Madrid fans are anxious to break the recently set record attendance for a women's game in Bilbao with already 45,000 tickets sold.

With the clock ticking down to the "El Clasico" of the domestic women's game as Atlético face Barcelona Femeni at the Wanda Metropolitano, everything points to the match being on track to constitute a new record for attendance at a women's football match in Spain.

Last month San Mames 48,121 fans saw Atlético beat home side Athletic Club in a Copa del a Reina match and with 45,000 match tickets already reserved for the St. Patrick's Day clash, Atleti club are officials are confident that the game will set a new domestic record. 

Season ticket holders are allowed into the game via the season ticket but advance tickets need to be reserved. The general public have to pay five euro to see the match. Fan groups are also mobilising with supporters groups reportedly travelling to the game from the likes of Toledo, Cuenca, Ciudad Real, Burgos, Cáceres, Salamanca and León.

With eight games of the season remaining, Atleti hold a six point advantage over the Catalan outfit as Atletico look to retain their league crown.
