Calderón: "90% sure Mourinho will be back at Madrid this week"

The former Real Madrid president told beIN Sport that a second spell at Madrid was almost certain for the Potuguese coach, who is the only option after Zidane declined an offer.

Calderón: "90% sure Mourinho will be back at Madrid this week"

After a turbelent week at Real Madrid Santiago Solari's position at the club looks increasingly fragile, with different names being mentioned to take over the reins, most notably José Mourinho. Former Real Madrid president Ramón Calderón told beIN Sport: "90% sure that Mourinho will be back at Madrid. I don't know if on Monday but they were even talking about sacking Solari yesterday [Friday]," he said.

Mourinho and Zidane

With Solari on borrowed time, the former Madrid president also said that Mourinho is the only choice after Zidane turned down an offer from Florentino Pérez: "Madrid called Zidane but he said no, this is not the moment to go to the club".

"Happy"

"Mourinho is happy to come and Mendes is happy with it," Calderón added. Mourinho was in charge of Los Blancos from 2010 to 2013, winning the league, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup. Since that time he has taken charge of Chelsea and Manchester United, but his time at both clubs ended badly, particularly at United.
