Five Lyon fans have been injured in Barcelona just hours before their team play at the Camp Nou in the second leg of the Champions League last 16. Four of them were treated for the effects of pepper spray and one of them is being treated in hospital for a wound according to Cadena SER.

The Mossos d'Esquadra, Barcelona's police unit, were deployed from the early hours of the morning together with the Barcelona Urban Guard, with the aim of avoiding potential clashes between rival groups of fans.

Over 100 of Lyon's ultras travelled to Barcelona and located themselves at Plaza de Artós in Barcelona. The group, 'Bad Gones', who hold links with Real Madrid's Ultrasur announce on social media they would be at the square close to the Camp Nou where there are typically antifascist celebrations held.

However, anti-fascist groups arrived with banners that read 'Tout le monde deteste fascistes' - 'The whole world hates fascists'.

5,000 Lyon fans are expected at the game, most of them with no ties to the radical groups. Taking advantage of how close the two cities are, many will arrive later this afternoon by car.
