“Cristiano is the best player in the history of football and he demonstrated that on Tuesday; he is from another planet,” said Jorge Mendes of the Juventus forward’s hat-trick against Atlético Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Mendes also suggested that much as Juve had secured the services of the Champions League’s top scorer to return to the summit of Europe after more than two decades, Real Madrid would not have spent the last few years camped there or thereabouts without Ronaldo: “He made the difference when he was in England, writing history at Manchester United, and he is the greatest Real Madrid player in history. Without him, Los Blancos wouldn’t have won as much as they did: the star of the four Champions League triumphs was Cristiano.”

Mendes also expressed his confidence that Ronaldo would go down in Juventus history as one of the greatest-ever to wear the famous black and white of the Old Lady. “I have absolutely no doubt. He will be the difference-maker [in the Champions League] and write his name into the history books at Juventus."
