Barcelona fans have lost interest in signing Griezmann
Results from polls conducted by Sport and Mundo Deportivo make it clear that Barcelona fans are no longer keen the idea of the club signing Antoine Griezmann.
Both Mundo Deportivo and Sport have run polls to gauge their readers' thoughts on the possibility of Antoine Griezmann joining Barça and the results are very revealing.
Polls conducted
In Sport, 83% of the votes were for the "no way" option, 8% voted "no" and just 7% voted in favour of seeing Griezmann with the blaugranas. In Mundo Deportivo, the percentage who voted against Barça signing Griezmann was even greater - almost 92% of the paper's readers do not want to see the French forward at Camp Nou next season.
It's clear things have changed a lot since a year ago when just the mere mention of the name Antoine Griezmann would send culés into a frenzy. The Atlético forward was strongly linked to Barcelona last season and the rumours escalated into a full-on soap opera which reached a climax when the player filmed a short documentary (La Decisión) produced by Gerard Piqué to confirm his plan to stay with Atleti.
The frivolous attitude shown by the player in the documentary together with his recent performances (he was nowhere to be seen in Atlético's recent Champions League tie against Juventus) have convinced Barça fans that Griezmann is not the player the team needs. Barcelona are scouring the markets in search of a striker to deputise for Luis Suárez during the next two seasons but while Mundo Deportivo and L’Équipe report the possibility that Barça could reopen talks with Atlético for Griezmann, it's clear that the fans have gone off the idea.
