BARCELONA

Coutinho goes up for sale, but with no Premier League suitors

The Brazilian's current situation has prompted his agents to look for a move to the Premier League, but no club in England is biting.

Philippe Coutinho's future at Barcelona remains uncertain after a string of performances that have flattered to deceive. According to Catalan sports newspaper Sport, the club's directors and the player's agents, Kia Joorabchian and Giuliano Bertolucci, will sit down in a month's time to discuss the Brazilian's future.

The Premier League

Joorabchian and Bertolucci have reportedly offered the player to Manchester United, but the Red Devils are yet to confirm their interest. The two agents gained Coutinho's trust after sealing his move from Liverpool to Barcelona, but the situation has become more complex because Coutinho is no longer a nailed-on starter at his place of employment, which is why the wheels have been set in motion to take him back to the Premier League. With Chelsea already ruled out, Manchester United are believed to be the prime candidates, although whether a potential move comes to fruition remains to be seen.

The Copa América

Given that Coutinho's future in Barcelona will remain up in the air from now until the end of the season, this summer's Copa América could be key to the Brazilian's future. If Coutinho impresses at the tournament, Barcelona could either see this season as a blip that can be rectified or will decide to ship the player out and will fancy their chances of getting a decent return on their investment. Unfortunately, Coutinho's poor run of form could make it difficult for him to feature in Tite's Brazil squad, which would further complicate his current state of limbo.
