UEFA sanctions

Cristiano Ronaldo reaction when asked about UEFA €20,000 fine

The Juventus and Portugal forward was asked about the sanctions handed out when following his 'big balls' gesture in the Champions League.

When Cristiano Ronaldo was asked by a reporter what his reaction was to a UEFA fine imposed on him, he initially seemed to be caught by surprise. However, rather than completely ignore the question, the Juventus star made his feelings known.

Cristiano Ronaldo's 'big balls' fine

UEFA’s disciplinary committee handed down a 20,000-euro fine to Cristiano Ronaldo for the gesture he made during Juventus’ 3-0 Champions League victory over Atlético Madrid at the Allianz Stadium.

Ronaldo’s gesture was aimed at the stand containing the travelling Atlético supporters in Turin and was based on the reaction of Diego Simeone after his side went 2-0 up in the tie in the Metropolitano. The Atlético coach was also fined 20,000 euros and like Ronaldo escaped a European ban.

Juventus face Ajax in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, with the first leg to take place at the Johan Cruyff Arena on April 10 and the return in Turin on April 16.
