Arsenal plot sensational Vinicius raid after Real Madrid’s Diomande interest

After reports linked Real Madrid with Yan Diomande, another transfer storyline has emerged – this time involving Vinicius Jr.

According to The Athletic, Arsenal have identified the Brazilian forward as their top transfer target and are preparing a strategy to try to bring him to north London. While there have been no formal talks between the clubs, the report claims the Gunners have already taken the first steps, believing the timing could work following Vinicius’ recent contract renewal talks with Madrid.

The pursuit is separate from Real Madrid’s move for Diomande, but there are obvious links between the two players. Both are most comfortable operating on the left wing, although Diomande has also featured regularly on the right, and they are represented by the same agency.

Arsenal reportedly believe this could be their best – and perhaps only – opportunity to convince Vinicius to leave the Santiago Bernabéu and become the marquee signing they hope can finally help deliver a first UEFA Champions League title.

Vinicius contract talks remain the key issue

The central issue remains Vinicius’ long-term future at Real Madrid.

Negotiations over a new contract have dragged on for months. Although relations between the club and the Brazil international remain positive, the two sides have yet to reach a final agreement.

According to AS, Vinicius is expected back at Real Madrid’s Valdebebas training complex on Monday following his vacation, with discussions over his renewal set to continue.

Arsenal are reportedly monitoring that situation closely. The Premier League club are aware that Madrid would be reluctant to risk entering 2027 with one of their biggest stars approaching free agency, potentially allowing him to leave without a transfer fee.
