Xabi Alonso wins first coaching title with Real Madrid
The youngsters in the Infantil A group secured their crown after winning 1-6 at Adarve, and sit with a phenomenal record of 22 wins and one draw.
Xabi Alonso has picked up his first title as coach, albeit with the youth side. It comes as just reward for the progression made by the team led by the former Real Sociedad, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich midfielder.
Alonso wins as coach
Alonso's undefeated 'Infantil A' side won 22 games and drew just one, scoring 142 goals and conceding only 12. Their most recent triumph, over Adarve, was by a convincing scoreline of 1-6 sealing the title for the team from Madrid's famous academy, La Fábrica. Their end of season points tally stood at 64 points, with Atlético's equivalent team sitting on 52, having played one game less. With three matchday's still remaining for Los Blancos, the title is already secured.
Top scorer for the side has been Iker Gil López, with 47 goals to date. Born in Zaragoza, he reached the lower categories of Madrid in 2017 joining from his local Real Zaragoza, and has been the spearhead of Alonso's young champions. Also in their ranks is one of the Zidane dynasty: Elyaz, who has been in the academy since 2013.
