Piqué compares double-victory over Madrid to sex

Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué took jibes at rivals Real Madrid and Espanyol in an interview on Spanish TV.

Show de Piqué en La Resistencia

Gerard Piqué was a guest on Spanish late night talk show La Resistencia hosted by comedian David Broncano on Thursday night. And in the light-hearted spirit of the interview, the Barcelona defender had some tongue-in-cheek answers that were clear jibes aimed at Barcelona rivals Real Madrid and Espanyol.

Barcelona made history last month by beating Real Madrid twice in the Santiago Bernabéu in the space of four days – an achievement in which Pique, his team mates and the Barça fans are still revelling. And in the La Resistencia interview, the Barcelona player compared those victories to the pleasure of having sex.

Real Madrid and Espanyol jibes

Asked how many times he had "fucked" this month, the Catalan defender and husband of pop-star Shakira responded: “Do those times in the Santiago Bernabéu count?”, drawing laughter and applause from the crowd. “I have had plenty with those two,” he added.

Later, Piqué took a cheeky jibe at Barcelona’s city rivals and opponents this weekend, Espanyol. In response to another of Broncano’s overly-personal questions, this time about his personal wealth, Piqué said: “I have more money than the budget of Espanyol this year.”

Messi the troll

The 2010 World Cup winner also revealed that he and his Barça team mates have a WhatsApp group that they use to troll sports journalists (amongst them, AS journalist and die-hard Real Madrid fan Tomás Roncero), adding that Messi was the “biggest troll” he knows.

"Messi has very ironic humour,” he told Broncero. “He's one of the biggest trolls [I know]."

Piqué won over the La Resistencia audience with his humorous answers. But we imagine those answers have gone down less well with Madrid and Espanyol fans.
