PSG chairman Al-Khelaifi's top 5 worst signings

Not all the transfer business by the Ligue 1 side has been astute over the eight years that the club has been run by QSI and chairman Nasser bin Ghanim Al-Khelaifi.

Paris Saint Germain has been part of the Qatar Sports Investments empire since 2011 and over the years the Parisian side have acquired the likes of Mbappé, Neymar, Cavani or Buffon. Not all the transfer market operations have worked out as planned with today's Le Parisien reminding their readers of some of the player's who failed to shine in the navy shirt of the Ligue 1 side during Nasser Al-Khelaïfi's time as boss.

Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting

The 30-year-old striker arrived last summer in Paris as a free-agent. This week alone the player has been making the headlines...but for the wrong reasons after he managed to stop a goal bound effort from colleague Nkunku on the line with the subsequent footage of the incident going viral globally. This coupled with a poor return of just three goals for PSG this season in 27 games for the Cameroon international may see his spell at the club limited to just one solitary campaign.

Jesé Rodríguez

The Canary Islander moved to Paris on a salary of €420,000 per week after a 25 million euro move from Real Madrid with the player being a specific request by then director of football at the club Patrick Kluivert. The forward never adapted to life in the French capital and struggled at the club which saw him move on loan deal with the likes of Las Palmas, Stoke City and currently Real Betis. Jesé is still officially a PSG player and managed to play 15 games in the navy shirt with zero goals for the side.

Grzegorz Krychowiak

After impressing with Sevilla in LaLiga, PSG snapped up the Polish central player for a bargain price of 5 million euro in 2016. The international failed to hold down a first team place making just 19 starts for the Ligue 1 outfits. He's currently on loan with Russian side Lokomitive Moscow after spending the 2017-18 season with English side West Brom.

Lassana Diarra

The veteran midfielder was brought back after a spell with Al-Jazira and was happy to accept the annual salary offered by the French side, reported to be approximately four million euro per season given that he was a free agent without a club at the time. He featured little for then coach Unai Emery and after just playing for the capital based side for 19 games, both sides decided to terminate the contract by mutual agreement.

Hatem Ben Arfa

Without doubt one of the most frustrating signings to have passed through the club in recent times. The creative talent joined PSG in 2016 amid fierce competition for his signature from other European giants and soon it was apparent that a lack of chemistry between player and coach Unai Emery impacted in his on-field displays. The 32-year-old did manage 32 appearances in the navy shirt bagging four goals and after failing to make a single appearance for the club in the 2017/18 season moved to current side Rennes.
