Why Michael Robinson can't see Paul Pogba joining Real Madrid
Michael Robinson gave his thoughts on whether Paul Pogba might fit in at Real Madrid, telling El Larguero "He's a great player but I can't see it happening..."
Football pundit Michael Robinson told Cadena SER's El Larguero programme that while French midfielder Paul Pogba is a wonderful player, he cannot see him at Zidane's Real Madrid in the immediate future...
When asked whether he thought Pogba would be a good signing for Madrid, Robinson said: “Well, he’s certainly not a bad player! Personally, I think he’s a brilliant player but the thing is, what Zidane hasn’t spoken about, is how he would fit in with the rest of the squad, the kind of character he has and so on. I’m talking about the kinds of things which you don’t see out on the football pitch. Unfortunately for Pogba, the press here hasn’t defended him when he has been outspoken or got himself into problems off the field. Maybe his run-ins with José Mourinho had something to do with football. A lot of times when we watch footballers play, we say to ourselves, ‘This guy’s really good’ and we convince ourselves that they would do well in our team. But sometimes, there are things that you don’t see, which are just as significant in determining whether they really would or not – for example, how players are able to get other with others, if they can keep on an even keel – both on the pitch and off it. For me, there are a few question marks over Pogba’s behaviour. This is his second spell at Manchester United, because he started out there as a kid, and at the moment, I wouldn’t describe his second stint at United as all peace and calm…”
