The match between Minnesota United and New York City FC on April 13th will see the beginning of Allianz Field as the Loons' new home.

Allianz Field is more than just a reflection of the state's beautiful natural resources, such as an exterior that mirrors water frozen in motion; it also has environmentally-friendly features, and a capacity for 19,400 spectators.

Conservation of water

Thanks to its design, the rain that falls on the paved sector of the stadium will be channeled underground to the trees. Also, the canopy structure collects rainwater and diverts it to the Great Garden, a green space of 28,000 square feet that unfolds to the north of the stadium. Finally, according to information on, 2 million gallons of water per year will be filtered and re-used to irrigate an urban park full of maple trees and native plants.

Air and soil quality

With the building of Allianz Field, the surroundings profit from the redevelopment of this space - designed to favor both land and air.

The exterior made of lightweight woven fiberglass preserves 100 tons of steel and, in its conception, lowered the cost, with the 1,700 low energy LED lights giving life to the glowing vibe of the Allianz Field and without disrupting birds' migratory routes, while still showcasing the stadium.

Two hundred and fifty million dollars were invested for the construction of this unique eco-friendly space, which also has an area for around 400 bicycles and free wi-fi access.

USMNT debut venue

The United States Men's National team will play its first match on this pitch in the Gold Cup against Guyana.
