The MLS in top ten leagues with best attendance records

The CIES Football Observatory published a study of the best attended leagues over the last five years along with an analysis of audience growth in the past 15 years.

The 44th Monthly Report of CIES Football Observatory published a study conducted to determine the leagues with the best attendance in recent years as well as measuring the growth of football in countries such as the United States, China, Russia, among others.

The study looked at average attendances across 51 top leagues with the Bundesliga and the Premier League heading the list as the leagues with the highest entrances each season: Germany has an average of 43,302 spectators with England on 36,675.

Major League Soccer is in the top 10 leagues with most attendance in the last five years, coming in at eighth place behind Germany, England, Spain, France, Italy, Mexico, and China.

The MLS showed strong growth in recent years, reflected in their stadium attendaces with an average of 21,358 spectators.

Growth analysis from 2003 to 2018

The MLS is the second league with the highest level of growth in the last 15 years, behind Poland, which grew 47%, while the US and Canada league showed a growth of 34%.

The American League had average assistance of 15,920 fans from 2003 to 2008, and 21,358 from 2013 to 2018, an increase of an average 5,438 fans in 15 years.
