Real Madrid are close to sealing the summer signing of centre-forward Luka Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Having this week activated a 6m-euro purchase option on Jovic - who has been on loan in Germany from Benfica - Eintracht are looking to sell him on at a profit, and Madrid are understood to be in advanced talks over a deal for the 21-year-old.

Eintracht set to sell Jovic for 50 to 60 million

Madrid scouts have been closely following Jovic's exploits in the Bundesliga and the Europa League this season, with the Serbian international proving a particular revelation in the latter tournament, netting eight goals to sit just one behind this term's top scorer, Chelsea's Olivier Giroud.

As a mobile striker with a killer instinct in front of goal (he has scored 25 in all competitions in 2018/19), he fits the profile Madrid had been looking for. Reports in Germany suggest that Eintracht will let him leave for around 50 to 60m euros, 20% of which will go to Benfica.

No Real Madrid return for De Tomás

Jovic's arrival as competition for first-choice centre-forward Karim Benzema would all but rule out the possibility of Raúl de Tomás joining Real Madrid's first-team fold next season.

Club youth product De Tomás, 24, is due to return from a year-long loan at Rayo Vallecano at the end of the season, but is reluctant to be limited to the kind of bit-part role endured by the soon-to-be-sold Mariano Díaz.
