The Eintracht Frankfurt striker has been tracked by several of Europe's elite clubs, but it is Los Blancos who have secured him for next season.

Real Madrid have secured the signing of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic for 60 million euros. Of that amount, 48 million euros will go to the Bundesliga club with the remaining 12 million heading in Benfica's direction. The Portuguese outfit had stipulated that 20% of any future transfer would come to them. The deal sees the Serbian striker sign with the LaLiga club for the next six seasons.

Jovic will be with Madrid for 2019/20

Los Blancos have wanted to accelerate the negotiations for Jovic after interest was raised by several other European clubs (PSG being the most recent to join in the bidding). For weeks the operation has been very advanced, as already reported by AS, and in the last few days the details have been finalised.

The idea from within the offices at the Santiago Bernabéu is that Jovic arrives to support Karim Benzema, either alternating appearances or playing alongside each other. After being disappointed with the contribution Mariano has brought to the team following his return from Lyon, Zinedine Zidane wants to increase the viable attacking options available to him.

The 21-year old becomes the second signing of the new project, following that of defender Militao from Porto. There is, of course, plenty more transfer activity expected to come, as Real Madrid look to reinvigorate the squad to match any other team on the planet.

Contact with Madrid

Jovic has known for weeks that his most likely destination was going to be Real Madrid. He even started making contact through mutual friends to current players at the Bernabéu. He was reportedly keen to get an understanding of what life is like in the Spanish capital and advice on good areas to live.
