De Ligt rejects huge Man United proposal; Raiola doubts he'll receive a better offer
Reports in England claim that Manchester United have put in a massive bid for the Ajax captain - a five-year contract and generous salary.
Matthijs de Ligt has no shortage of suitors among Europe's top clubs. The 19-year-old, who has already picked up this year's Golden Boy award and along with his club, Ajax, he has a good chance of reaching this season's Champions League final. But the interest in the Ajax captain goes way back before all of that, numerous clubs - Barcelona in particular, are keen to sign the player this summer.
Agent told to turn down United's offer
Ajax's impressive Champions League has only drawn more interest in De Light - one of the latest clubs to join the chase is Manchester United, who are planning a complete overhaul of their squad this summer. According to The Mirror, United have placed a 70.25 million euro offer for the player - a lucrative, five-year package offering De Ligt a 15.2 million euros salary - way in excess of what he earns at the moment with Ajax. However, De Ligt had instructed his agent Mino Raiola to turn down United's offer as he doesn't consider Old Trafford such an attractive destination as it was several seasons ago. It looks like De Ligt has definitively closed the door on United, as he agent is sure that they won't come back with an improved offer.
