DC United are level on points atop the Eastern Conference standings after consecutive home victories, and this week the team from the capital has a three-match road trip, which for Wayne Rooney means an opportunity to catch up on Netflix.

For Rooney, DC United's away days have a bright side as it presents an excellent chance to watch his favourite shows in peace: "I'm looking forward to it; I've got my TV series ready," said the former England captain.

Rooney thinks people make a bit too much out of road trips, but for the former Manchester United star, it's just a couple of flights and part of the job. "It's a flight Tuesday and a flight Thursday and when the game's over, you're flying back. It's two flights where you have to prepare and get ready for the game, which is part of your job. It's something you have to do," Rooney noted.

But with four kids at home, road trips must come in handy because for Rooney to get a bit of peace and quiet.

The Black and Reds have improved their away record this season, taking 10 points of 15 available outside Audi Field, and Rooney knows the importance of picking up points away from home.

"These were very important points to pick up, especially after we weren't the sharpest here leading up to these last two home games, to get these six points going into this road trip gives us some confidence. But we understand that when you're going to Toronto and when you're going to a tough environment in Houston, against two of the best teams in the league right now, it'll be tough," Rooney said.
