Morgan won't go to White House if USWNT wins the World Cup
The star of the United States told Time magazine since her husband is Mexican; she does not agree with Trump's immigration policy. She also spoke about sports inequalities.
Alex Morgan won the Women's Canadian World Cup against Japan four years ago, a match that was seen by more than 25 million people, a record audience for the United States. Morgan is one of the most famous forwards of the international scene, and granted an interview with Time magazine where she spoke about inequalities in sport and Trump's government politics, and she has something clear, in case the USWNT wins the coming World Cup, Morgan wouldn't assist the White House presentation.
Morgan is aware of the sports inequality since in her country the women's team has been world champion on three occasions, while the men's national team didn't classify for the last World Cup. She expressed how they have to do more in general, to be role models for the next generations, while the males are mostly thinking in themselves, "we have more than one job in this purpose, and they pay us much less."
Soccer
Alex Morgan has an enviable record, although she doesn't feel she has reached her goals, Morgan even remembers how she felt on the Olympics final mentioning: 'In the first half of the final, I was panting, dead - my legs were not going - I was not thinking about how to beat my opponent, and being that intrepid attacker. I was thinking about how to be free of pain.'
Morgan then decided to move to France, where she played with Olympique Lyon, something she needed to focus on football entirely without having her family and friends, just her team. She now plays with Orlando Pride.
The White House
Morgan said she will not go to the White House visit if the United States women's national team wins the World Cup, because she doesn't feel identified with many of the things the current government represents. Morgan is particularly upset by the policy of separating immigrant families on the southern border since her husband Servando Carrasco is Mexican.
USWNT
The United States National Team arrives in France as the current world champion and is top candidate to retain the title. It is the most awarded team in history, with three World Cups 1991, 1999 and 2015 in its record, as well as four Olympic gold medals in 1996, 2004, 2008 and 2012.
