Real Madrid: Florentino: "My relationship with Cristiano was always perfect"

Real Madrid's president Florentino Pérez was the special guests on this evening's El Transistor programme broadcst on Onda Cero. Host José Ramón de la Morena chatted to the president about a number of topics concerning the club including the disappointment of last season and Cristiano's departure to Italy last year...

Cristiano after Kiev final: "It's been great at Real Madrid..."

Cristiano's comments on the night of the Champions League final in Kiev: "He was convinced that new challenges lay ahead for him and made the most of that moment to express it".

Problems between Cristiano and Iker Casillas: "Cristiano was a model professional and never caused any problems. He's the best player I've ever signed. My relationship with him was always perfect and there was never any problems about money with him".

Cristiano's reasons for leaving Madrid

Cristiano's issues with the tax authorities and a contract renewal to service the club's debts: "It was never like that. Those are just rumours which don't correspond to the reality. He wanted a change and to improve his contract and he managed to do that with Juventus. It was a good outcome for everyone".

Real Madrid not looking for a substitute for Cristiano: “It's difficult, but we had very good players: Bale, Asensio, Vinicius… I don't think that was the problem last season”.

Zidane's departure in 2018

Zidane: “He left because he was worn out - the same as the squad. Everyone dropped their level except Benzema. Zidane was under a lot of pressure, because we hadn't done well in LaLiga. He called me and came to see me in my office. He had already decided that he needed a break”.

Sergio Ramos angling for a move to China: "They came to see me in my office. They mentioned that he might leave but without a transfer fee because transfer fees in China are very complicated. I told him that he can't leave and that we would be speaking to the Chinese club interested in signing him. It's impossible to let your captain leave for free, that would be settintg a bad precedent".
