Liverpool fan travels to Madrid in car he bought for €45
After winning tickets for the Champions League final to see his beloved Liverpool, Simon Wilson took off in a car he bought for €45.
Simon Wilson was coming to Madrid for the Champions League final regardless of how he managed to travel.
When Wilson's name came out of the draw for tickets, he looked at flights and panicked at their price. €800 return trip from Merseyside was too steep and he'd have to find another way.
He asked for help from Facebook and asked his friends to put him in contact with someone selling a cheap car. Wilson found potentially the cheapest car when he stumbled upon the Skoda Favorit GLXI for €45.
"It works, I bought it and you worry about the problems later," he said with his eyes on the Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday night.
They make their way across the Channel Tunnel but the exhaust failed and they were forced to continue their journey on train.
