AD Alcorcón: Sale could be nearing completion
Philadelphia 76ers owner Joshua Harris could be set to team up with Iván Bravo, who heads up Aspire in Qatar and is a Leeds United director.
News of the sale of AD Alcorcón broke a few weeks ago, pointing to a buy-out by Joshua Harris, the American owner of NBA franchise the Philadelphia 76ers and major shareholder at Premier League club Crystal Palace. However, reports were quickly dismissed by both the club, who deflected the rumours, and Harris' company, which issued a denial statement.
Aspire chief Bravo in frame to join project
However, it looks increasingly probable that the sale of the club will come to fruition, thus bringing an end to Belgian millionaire Roland Duchatalet’s presence in Spanish football. Reports continue to point to an important American investor already present in the Premier League and the NBA. And it seems that Iván Bravo, the Spanish executive who leads the Aspire football project in Qatar and is a director of Leeds United, could be joining the group.
By bringing Bravo in, the American investor would add the local component that he would consider key to a smooth landing in the Spanish game. Such a move would probably mean that Aspire would have to relieve Bravo of his responsibilities at Cultural Leonesa, a club the Qatar academy owns and of which the Spaniard is the vice-president. Spain's sports law does not allow for investors or directors to participate in more than one domestic football club.
The next few days could confirm the beginning of a new chapter at Alcorcón.
