Morgan and Rapinoe get White House experience on Jimmy Kimmel
The United States women's national team co-captains visited Jimmy Kimmel live on Thursday night to talk about their recent World Cup win.
Much has been said about the possible White House invite for the US women's national team after captain Megan Rapinoe, who was asked about a possible White House visit before the U.S. had reached the final, exclaimed: "I'm not going to the f—ing White House".
Her statement provoked a "win before talking" response from President Trump himself. But Rapinoe and her team mates did eventually return home with the World Cup trophy after beating the Netherlands in the final, to secure their second consecutive - and fourth overall - world title.
When co-captains Rapinoe and Alex Morgan went on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday night to talk about their World Cup experience and coming back home as champions, the presenter wanted them to have a the full White House experience.
"I don't want to cheat you out of the experience of visiting the White House, so we prepared something special for you," said Jimmy Kimmel before presenting Rapinoe and Morgan with 5,000 chicken nuggets, beside two actors dressed as Secret Service agents holding dipping sauces.
This stunt was a clear reference to a White House event back in January, when President Trump received the Clemson University football team with McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King and pizza during the US government shutdown. In March, the North Dakota State Bison football team were also served fast food from McDonald's and Chick-Fil-A during their visit to the White House.
The USWNT has yet to receive a formal invitation from the White House, although several players, including Rapinoe and Morgan, already mentioned they would skip such a visit, as other athletes have done in the past.
