Furious Ronaldo has run-in with Sarri after being substituted
A visibly angry Cristiano Ronaldo seemed to have some heated words for the Italian coach regarding his substitution in Juventus' defeat to Tottenham.
Cristiano Ronaldo apparently made it very clear to new Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri that he does not like to be substituted, as the pair had what looked like a brief yet heated run-in when the Portuguese star was taken off in the 3-2 defeat to Spurs on Sunday.
The 34-year-old striker loves to be on the field of play for the full 90 minutes no matter what the occasion, be it a pre-season friendly or a Champions League final. And convincing the player it was in his own interests to be rested occasionally was one of the main issues that Zinedine Zidane had to address while the player was at Real Madrid.
Ronaldo gives Sarri a piece of his mind
Now that challenge is up to Sarri, who seemingly had to bear the brunt of Ronaldo’s frustrations over being substituted against Spurs just minutes after he had scored the equalising goal.
As the ex-Real Madrid star walked off the pitch, he smiled and shook hands with one member of Juve’s backroom staff, before his demeanour completely changed as he approached Sarri.
A visibly angry Ronaldo seemed to have some heated words for the Italian coach regarding his substitution, and as he walked away, Sarri shrugged his shoulders and then slapped the player on the back before his attention returned to the game.
The incident may prompt Sarri to think twice about taking the club’s talisman off in the Bianconeri’s next fixture against Serie A rivals Inter Milan in China on Wednesday.
