Van de Beek: "Madrid are in contact with Ajax"
Van de Beek said talks are ongoing between Ajax and Real Madrid as it looks increasingly likely that the Dutch midfielder will arrive instead of Paul Pogba.
Every day that passes without Paul Pogba arriving at Real Madrid, the belief that Donny van de Beek is the replacement option grows. The midfielder, who scored and assisted during Ajax' first game of the Eredivisie season on Saturday confirmed that Real Madrid are in contact with Ajax.
"They (Real Madrid) are in contact with Ajax, there is interest, I can't say anything else," he said after the game against Vitesse.
The player told Fox Sports that "without doubt, my agent has spoken with them, that's what it is, but I prefer to speak about football."
When asked which option he preferred, he said they both sounded good with a laugh. He also admitted that he heard the songs from the Ajax faithful asking him to stay. "I heard them singing 'Donny, one more year.'"
The speculation grows with his compatriot and former Real Madrid player, Rafael van der Vaart saying he would cycle to Madrid if he were Van de Beek.
