Lukaku: training in Italy "is real work" compared to England
Lukaku revealed that he has so far found training in Italy harder than in England, after he made the switch to Inter Milan from Manchester United last week.
Inter Milan new signing Roman Lukaku has suggested that training in Italy is harder work than in England.
The Belgian international has been getting to grips with the training regime in Italy after he made the switch from Manchester United to Inter for 80 million euros last week.
And in a short interview for OTRO, Lukaku revealed that he has so far found training in Italy harder than in England, where he had been recently slammed by former United legend Gary Neville for being “overweight and unprofessional” just before his move to Inter was confirmed.
When asked by how training was going with his new club, the 26-year-old striker, looking visibly tired, admitted: “It’s hard man”.
“It’s different,” added Lukaku. “In England, it’s a lot of work. But over here [in Italy] it’s real work.”
Lukaku wants to help Inter “achieve something”
Lukaku joined Inter after a relatively underwhelming spell at Old Trafford, where he had lost his starting position to Marcos Rashford following the arrival of coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in December.
But despite his poor spell at United, new Inter coach Antonio Conte was eager to sign the Belgian, who is now relishing the opportunity to give his career a fresh start in Serie A and help Inter to close the gap on Juventus.
When asked by OTRO about his early impressions of the city of Milan, Lukaku replied: “The city is nice. But I don’t mind, I didn’t come here to live. I came here to help the team achieve something.”
And the Belgian international signalled his intent for his upcoming first season in Italy, by scoring four goals in Inter's emphatic win against Serie D side Virtus Bergamo last weekend.
