Neymar: PSG reject Barcelona loan proposal - reports

According to reports in France, PSG consider Barcelona's loan-plus-purchase-option proposal for Neymar to be completely unacceptable.

The latest chapter in the Neymar saga has emerged from Paris.

Just hours after speculation had come to light in France that PSG were open to the idea of a loan deal with Barcelona for the Brazilian star, which would have included an option to purchase, Le Parisien has quashed those rumours.

According to the French daily, PSG consider the Barcelona proposal completely unacceptable, not only on financial grounds, but also based on the principles of respect.

Neymar-Barça loan move unfeasible for PSG

The Parisian club bought Neymar in the summer of 2017 for 222 million euros, making him the most expensive signing in history to date. Consequently, club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi would likely find it hard to understand why he should let the player leave on a loan deal barely two years after he made that investment.

In July, Barcelona offered PSG 40 million euros plus Philippe Coutinho (now gone to Bayern Munich on loan) and Ivan Rakitic in exchange for Neymar. However the Parisian club’s owners found the offer insufficient, while sporting director Leonardo reportedly didn’t want the Croatian midfielder.

Since then, the Catalan club has been probing the possibility of a loan transfer, something which is unrealistic for Al-Khelaifi.

While the exit door is very much open to Neymar following the breakdown in his relationship with PSG, the club is not willing to let him go at any price.

Besides, considering the Parc de Princes outfit is under the focus of UEFA’s Financial Fair Play inspectors, they will need to take in a sufficient amount of money in order to spend a significant amount on his replacement, which seemingly makes Barcelona’s proposal unfeasible.
