Jorge Valdano was back behind the microphone on Onda Cero's El Transistor programme. He spoke about several of the names who have been making the headlines in the sports press such as Maradona, Robert Moreno, Fabián, Messi, Nadal and Neymar. Valdano admited that he is glad that Neymar didn't join Real Madrid because he feels he would have been a negative influence on his fellow Brazilians Vinicius and Rodrygo, who are still young and impressionable.

Maradona: "Maradona is an example of energy and bravery. When he first arrived, he changed the whole league in Argentina. He's turned himself into a legend and people expect miracle from him. He came out and said that they should take my Argentinean passport off me but I don't hold those things against him".

Robert Moreno: "To me, Robert Moreno transmits security, he is doing incredibly well during what is quite a difficult moment".

Fabián impresses Valdano

Fabián: "The player who has surprised me the most since last summer is Fabián, I love him. He has everything he needs to become a great midfielder".

Messi: "I get the impression that Messi still has a competitive spirit, so I can see him continuing in Europe".

Neymar: "I wouldn't have liked to see Neymar sign for Real Madrid, he's a bit confused about what it means to be a footballer; I don't know if he would be a good influence for the young Brazilian players at Real Madrid, who I'm sure absolutely idolise him".

Rafa Nadal: "Rafa Nadal is amazing, without merit there is no success. If Nadal doesn't win with grandeur, he doesn't win, he has an incredible mind. He is a sportsman par excellence who knows how to win and how to lose. If there is one example in sport it's Rafa Nadal. I have no idea where Nadal draws the stimulus to keep winning, and to have the ability to overcome all odds".
