Mexico endured a sluggish night in San Antonio at Alamodome, losing an unbeaten streak that stretched back to when Gerardo 'Tata' Martino took charge of the squad.

Hopes for Mexico were high for the game against Argentina after Friday's match against USMNT and the unbeaten run they were having, despite Argentina posing tough opposition.

Argentina needed just 45 minutes to make their case against the Mexican side, with Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez on outstanding form with a hat-trick and Leandro Paredes rounding off the four-goal spree from the penalty spot.

Mexico didn't have an answer to the Albiceleste power, failing to pass the first big test in Martino's era, and, despite the friendly nature of the match, the rivalry between these two made this game one to be taken seriously. However, it ended as a game when Gerardo Martino's perfect run came to an end.
