Real Madrid loanee watch: Kubo, Ødegaard, Ceballos, Achraf...
Takefusa Kubo made his home Mallorca bow, Sergio Reguilón and Martin Ødegaard continued to impress, while Borja Mayoral was on target against Real Madrid.
Takefusa Kubo, 18, Real Mallorca
In what was his home debut for Real Mallorca, Takefusa Kubo caught the eye after coming on as a second-half substitute against Athletic Bilbao on Friday evening. His fine individual play won Los Bermellones a penalty that Abdón Prats failed to convert, before Athletic's Aritz Aduriz also missed from the spot in time added on to ensure that the LaLiga clash finished goalless.
Martin Ødegaard, 20, Real Sociedad
Martin Ødegaard continued his fine start to life at Real Sociedad this weekend, thrilling the Anoeta fans by scoring one as the Basques ended Atlético Madrid's 100% LaLiga record with a 2-0 victory in San Sebastián. "I feel really at home here," was the post-match verdict given by the 20-year-old Norwegian international, who has played every minute so far this term for the Txuri-Urdin.
Borja Mayoral, 22, Levante
Borja Mayoral came back to haunt his parent club this weekend, but the centre-forward's strike at the Bernabéu was not enough to prevent Levante from suffering defeat, as Real Madrid survived Los Granotas' second-half fightback to win 3-2. Nonetheless, Mayoral's drought-ending goal will have boosted the confidence of a player in whom Levante's head coach, Paco López, appears to have firm faith.
Dani Ceballos, 23, Arsenal
After leaving him on the bench for the north London derby a week ago, Arsenal boss Unai Emery restored Dani Ceballos to the line-up for the Gunners' 2-2 draw at Watford, where Quique Sánchez Flores was overseeing his first game since being reappointed as the Hornets' head coach. The Arsenal fans have already composed a chant in Ceballos' honour: "He drinks Estrella, he eats paella..."
Sergio Reguilón, 22, Sevilla
Sergio Reguilón has made the Sevilla left flank his own, establishing himself as a key player under the Andalusians' new head coach, Julen Lopetegui. The full-back was particularly impressive in the first half in this weekend's 1-0 victory away to Alavés, before making less of an impact after the break.
Achraf Hakimi, 20, Borussia Dortmund
Morocco international Achraf Hakimi supplied the assist for Paco Alcácer's opener as Borussia Dortmund thumped Bayer Leverkusen 4-0 in the Bundesliga on Saturday. Hakimi showed that his recent injury is now firmly behind him, playing the full 90 minutes for the second straight game.
Óscar Rodríguez, 21, Leganés
Óscar Rodríguez was one of the few players to come away with any credit on a tough night for Leganés on Saturday. The attacking midfielder twice came close to scoring for Los Pepineros, before Villarreal finally ran out comfortable, 3-0 winners at Butarque. He was substituted on the hour mark.
Jesús Vallejo, 22, Wolves
It was a Premier League debut to forget for Jesús Vallejo on Saturday, the central defender starting for Wolverhampton Wanderers as they fell to a 5-2 defeat to Chelsea, whose young striker, Tammy Abraham, terrorised the home backline on his way towards bagging a hat-trick.
Luca Zidane, 21, Racing Santander
Goalkeeper Luca Zidane was a stand-out performer for Racing Santander in Segunda División on Friday - until, that is, Rayo Vallecano took advantage of his late foray forward for a corner to race up the other end and seal a 2-0 victory over the Cantabrians.
Andriy Lunin, 20, Real Valladolid
With Real Valladolid boss Sergio González declaring that Andriy Lunin "will have to wait for the Copa del Rey to make his debut", Jordi Matip again started ahead of the Ukrainian in this weekend's 1-1 draw with Osasuna.
Jorge De Frutos, 22, and Javi Sánchez, 22, Valladolid
Winger Jorge de Frutos and defender Javi Sánchez are also struggling to get a look-in at Valladolid, and were likewise uninvolved against Osasuna. It's fair to say that Real Madrid are not best pleased by how things are going for their loanees at the Estadio José Zorrilla.
