Morata: "There's never a lack of commitment or motivation at Atlético"
Atlético Madrid striker Diego Morata has reflected on his team's recent poor performance but says there is no issue with motivation or commitment amongst the players.
Álvaro Morata answered reporter’s questions at a promotional event in Madrid on Thursday where he reflected on the current situation at Altético Madrid following their 2-1 loss to Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Diego Morata comments
How much is the situation the fault of the players?
We are all guilty. We are a large group, like a family, like brothers and we know that we have to improve together.
Is there any concern?
We are Atlético Madrid and we know that there are mistakes and what needs to be done. But we still depend on ourselves to get through and even top our group in the Champions League. In LaLiga we are close to the top. We must continue working. We want to always win; we know the badge we are defending. We have to adjust small things and stay together.
What happened to Atléti in the first half?
There is never a lack of commitment or motivation at Atlético. If you watch the games, we always come out with the desire to win. Sometimes things go well or go wrong, but we all run and give our all. You can miss a pass, not reach a ball ... Sometimes it's also a dynamic thing. When it is positive we will be much better.
Diego Simeone talked about not knowing how to motivate you…
It is not a problem of motivation. When the coach speaks we are all motivated and in the dressing room we are clear.
And how do you see the situation with Diego Costa?
It's football. Any player in any position goes through moments when he tries everything and it doesn’t work out for him. For others, it’s the other way around. Diego knows that he is important for the team and for his teammates. When he starts scoring he won't stop.
