Liverpool vs Manchester City: as it happened

Liverpool have extended their lead to eight points at the top of the table after they saw off Man City 3-1 at Anfield.

Two early first half goals from Fabinho and Salah were followed by a Mane header in the 51st minute to give Klopp's men a 3-0 lead against a City side who had their fair share of chances and fought to the end.

Amid a sustained period of City pressure towards the end of the game, Bernardo Silva managed to claw one back in the 78th minute.

But it was a case of too-little-too-late for Guardiola's men, who find themselves in fourth place and nine points behind the league leaders looking well on course to ending an almost 30-year wait for league success.

95

Peep, peep! It's all over. Liverpool make it 11 wins from 12 and remain unbeaten. Guardiola is not a happy camper. He's gone towards the officials to shake their hands but offers them a very sarcastic "well-done".

94

Four minutes added on about to come to an end as 'You'll Never Walk Alone' blares out around Anfield.

90

Another chance for City goes a begging! This time the unmarked Gabriel Jesus powers his header over from a De Bruyne free kick set piece on the left.

86

Chance City! Some neat tiki-taka sees Angelino released down the left. The Spaniard delivers a near-perfect ball into the box but Walker can only drive his header over. He's kicking himself.

82

Now Guardiola is going ballistic over a handball by Alexander Arnold inside the box. No doubt his hand touched the ball but the ref has deemed it accidental. Pep is screaming "twice, twice" at the assistant ref.

78

City score!! 3-1! After sustained pressure around the Liverpool area, Sterling slots a pass wide to Angelino on the left. He hits a first-time low cross to the opposite side of the box towards Bernardo Silva. And the Spaniard exprertly drives his shot into the bottom near corner. Klopp's gone ballistic!

78

City are piling on the pressure. They desperately want to get on the scoreboard.

73

A sliding John Stones does well to cut out a pass towards Milner in the danger area. Had he not Milner would have been in there and one-on-one with Bravo.

71

Man City change: Gabriel Jesus comes on for Aguero.

65

Rodri goes in the for his protests after Sterling tumbles in the box. Sterling is furious a penalty hasn't been given but the ref seems to have made the right decision. I think Sterling tripped himself up before the challenge came flying in from Alexamder-Arnold.

61

First change for Liverpool as Milner comes on for Henderson.

58

De Bruyne shoots! And it's deflected for a corner. The Belgian delivers a deep cross but Alisson jumps high to take.

57

Walker needed to do much better with the cross as City had a chance to break down the right.

51

3-0 LIVERPOOL!!!! Henderson breaks down the right flank, takes the ball round Silva and delivers a cross towards the far post, where Mane is waiting to slot it in with his head.

49

De Bruyne rushes forward through the centre and almost releases Aguero with a cutting pass. But the Argentine is flagged for offside. Positive from City though.

48

City pass and moving well as they look to find away through the Liverpool defence. They've enjoyed all the possession in these opening few minutes and now have their second corner after a strike by Bernardo Silva.

46

Peep! Liverpool get the second half underway!

HT

As it stands, Liverpool will go 8 points ahead of second-placed Leicester and nine ahead of City in fourth. But there are 45 minutes yet to go here for City to stop that happening.

47

Peep, peep!! Half time. Liverpool go in at the break with a comfortable 2-0 lead. They look incredibly confident and dangerous every time they get forward. City have also had a fair few chances and will still feel very much in this tie after the early stunning by Liverpool, who netted two goals in the opening 13 minutes.

45

What a strike from Salah! The Egyptian striker tries to curl a first-time strike from 25 yards out into the top left corner. But Bravo does incredibly to punt the ball away.

42

Chance City! De Bruyne slots a pass to Aguero in space on the left, but the Argentine striker drags his low shot wide of the far post from 15 yards out.

41

Salah is on the ground receiving attention after a tough, but completely legal challenge by Fernandinho, who did very well to snatch the ball away from the advancing Egyptian with a sliding tackle.

38

Firmino stabs at a shot from eight yards out, but it's saved by Bravo.

36

Firmino chance! The Brazilian latches on to a poorly cleared cross, beats Walker but then drives his shot way over.

33

Corner delivery comes in from Roberston. Lovren tries a glancing header but it goes well wide.

29

City's patience finally pays off as they break through Liverpool's defences, with Angelino's shot from inside the box shaving the outside of the right post.

28

City enjoying a decent spell of possession but they can't find away around the Liverpool defence.

25

Aguero lines himself up on the left side of the box and shoots! It's a decent effort and an equally decent save from Alisson.

21

Chance Liverpool! Sane plays the one-two to Wijnaldum, but the Dutchman drags his shot wide of the right post.

19

City need to get themselves together here or they could find themselves 3-0 down.

13

What a start for Klopp's men!! This time Robertson is picked out on the left in acres of space as Liverpool break quickly on the counter. The full back advances before delivering a cross towards Salah, who escapes his marker and expertly heads the ball home.

13

2-0 Liverpool!!!

12

What a chance for City! De Bruyne delivers an almost perfect delivery from a free kick set piece on the right. Both Stones and Aguero find themselves in space but they can't reach it.

06

Absolutely stunning goal from Fabinho. City fail to clear the ball properly after pressure from Firmino and it falls to Fabinho in acres of space. The Brazilian has time to tee himself up with his first touch and then drive a rocket into the left corner from 30 yards.

06

GOAL LIVERPOOL!!!

03

Sterling tries to take on Alexander-Arnold down the left. He loses the ball and then is called up for a foul on the Liverpool defender as he tries to win it back.

02

City carve out an early corner opportunity through De Bruyne. The Belgian steps up to take it but the delivery is very poor.

01

City get the game underway to deafening whistles and jeers.

The minute silence for Remembrance Sunday is replaced by rapturous noise. Here we go!

The teams are out and we're almost ready to go here.

Warming up on a chilly evening at Anfield...

Meanwhile, the Red side of Manchester are celebrating after a much-needed win against Brighton, which has put them three places and nine points behind fourth-placed City.

Anfield has been quite the fortress over the past 901 days. You would have to go all the way back to April 2017 and the defeat to Crystal Palace to find the last time Klopp's men lost here.

Man City Starting XI: Bravo, Walker, Stones, Fernandinho (C), Angelino, Rodrigo, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Bernardo, Sterling, Aguero

Liverpool team news in: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Mane, Salah, Firmino

The other Manchester club brought an end to Liverpool's 100-percent record a few weeks ago. Now City will look to end the Reds' 28-game unbeaten run that began after they last defeated them on January 3.
