Liverpool confirmed this afternoon that midfielder Fabinho will be sidelined until the New Year. The Brazilian midfielder limped out of Wednesday's Champions League meeting with Napoli after colliding with Hirving Lozano on 19 minutes. Liverpool's medical staff decided against running tests on Fabinho's injured ankle until the swelling had subsided, the player was examined by doctors this morning. While the club has not issued a detailled medical report to reveal the exact nature of the injury, they have confirmed that Fabinho will not play again this year and will start his rehabilitation in Melwood next week.

It's an untimely blow for Jürgen Klopp as he will be without one of his top-performing players for a hectic month of key fixtures including the Merseyside derby, the Club World Cup and the final matchday of the Champions League with the Reds requiring a draw at least away at Salzburg on 10 December if they are to progress to the next round.
