Beckham's Inter Miami make late bid for Edinson Cavani
Contacts close to the player have confirmed to AS that the new MLS franchise has made a significant bid for the striker who is still keen on a move to Atlético.
Despite Atlético Madrid's desire to sign Edinson Cavani and the Uruguayan's striker enthusiasm to move to LaLiga, another late development may derail the negotiation process. AS has confirmed the news earlier broken by journalist Josep Pedrerol that David Beckham's Inter Miami MLS side have made a significant bid for the striker with the new 2020 season set to start in early March. Contacts close to the forward stated: "Edinson's priority is to join Atlético, nothing has changed on that front and he's hoping that both Atlético and PSG can reach a mutual agreement but the new Inter Miami offer is such, that, it warrants close consideration".
David Beckham enjoys a very positive relationship with PSG and president Nasser Al Khelaifi and this may carry some sway with the Ligue 1 side with the former England international having played fro the Ligue 1 side back in the 2012-13 season, a year before Cavani moved to Paris from Naples.
The Uruguay striker's contact added that: "Edinson has three seasons in him to compete at the highest level in Europe. We're hoping that the move to play in Madrid materialises but the final word on that happening will come from PSG and Atléti. I hope this can happen now and if not, at least next summer".
No Cavani developments
The player's brother and agent remains in the Spanish capital involved in the ongoing negotiation process with Atlético Madrid. Despite claims from various media outlets that Cavani had already bid farewell to his PSG colleagues, the player's circle claim that this is not the case with the striker still in the French capital anxious for developments that may accelerate the move as the closure of the current transfer window looms closer.
