Barcelona call up B team starlet Konrad de la Fuente
The 18-year-old, Florida-born was drafted for the first team's training sessions this week by Quique Setién. De la Fuente scored his first goal for Barça B at the weekend.
Barcelona failed to sign a striker during the winter transfer market and coach Quique Setien hopes talent in the reserves can help the first team out. Setien called up Konrad de la Fuente to the first team's training sessions this week.
It was rumoured that the 18-year-old American winger was starting to get impatient for a chance with the first team after impressing with Barcelona B. The teenage forward has made five appearances for the reserves and has already scored his debut goal for the team.
Barcelona published a photograph on Twitter of Konrad and other La Masia players with Messi and the first team squad on completion of their first training session.
Konrad eager to join the first team
The young American winger stated in December that he was planning on leaving La Masia because he felt he was ready to make the leap to the first team at Barça. Those comments prompted a reaction from other clubs who have been tracking him - among them, Hertha Berlin.
After competing his first training session with the first team, maybe Konrad will decide to stay and wait for his chance.
