David Beckham teases Inter Miami fans with a selfie in the new stadium

David Beckham has published a selfie of himself inside Inter Miami’s stadium on Instagram in giving fans a taster of what to expect when his team make their Major League Soccer home debut in 40 days' time. The Lockhart is located in Fort Lauderdale and there is still some work to do before it is ready for Inter's maiden home match against LA Galaxy on 14 March.

The former England captain, who has 60 million followers, decided to share a picture to show how construction work is coming along, he even wrote the following caption: “240 days and counting… This is becoming more real every day… I'm so excited.”

The Lockhart stadium will feature rows of pink seats to match the team's pink training kit - the same one Beckham is wearing in the picture.

Beckham has been in Florida during the past couple of weeks - he attended the Super Bowl game on Sunday and now he is overseeing the final steps of the stadium ahead of their season debut. During his visit to the stadium, he posed for a picture with Inter Miami’s managing owner, Jorge Mas, and sporting director, Paul McDonough.

Inter Miami will play their first game against LAFC in the Banc of California stadium on 1 March. Then. a week later they will make a trip to the US capital to play DC United and finally on 14 March they will host their first home game against Beckham’s old team, LA Galaxy.

Inter will play their first two seasons at the Lockhart Stadium and in 2022 they will be moving into the 25,000 seater Miami Freedom Park. The Lockhart will then be used as a training facility for the team first team and the youth academies.
