Choc-R7: latest Ronaldo statue a delicious tribute to star
Award-winning chocolatier Jorge Cadoso spent 200 hours creating a life-size chocolate statue of CR7 that will be housed at the Cristiano Ronaldo Museum in Madeira.
For many the words “Ronaldo” and “statue” will probably conjure images of the bronze monstrosity that was unveiled at Madeira airport a couple of years ago.
Such a disaster was the piece that it was later removed from the airport and replaced by a bronze bust that bore a more flattering resemblance to the Madeira-born superstar.
But the latest statue tribute to Juventus forward has been deemed a delicious success and is made entirely of chocolate.
Ronaldo choc statue made in Switzerland
The towering live-size chocolate statue, created by Portuguese chocolatier Jorge Cardoso, weighs an incredible 120 kilos and measures 1.87m.
Taking 200 hours to finish, the piece was made in Switzerland before being taken on the 17-hour flight to Portugal, where it will be on display in an arts centre in Ovar in the north of the county as part of Carnival celebrations.
Later, the chocolate statue will be transferred to its permanent home, the Cristiano Ronaldo Museum in Madeira.
