Iñaki Williams on racist chants: "If it happens again, Athletic will leave the field"

The Athletic Club striker says it's time to kick racism out of football once and for all. "The lads have spoken about it, we'd prefer to make a stand than lose a game".

Iñaki Williams says that as far as he and his Athletic Club team mates are concerned, there will be zero tolerance to racism from now on. The striker is the special guest on this week's episode of Universo Valdano which will be broadcast on #Vamos tonight. Williams described how he felt about being on the receiving end of insults from a group of spectators in Cornellà during the Week 21 game against Espanyol - an incident he hopes will not happen again.

Racism won't be tolerated by Athletic Club

"If something like that happened again, I know that my team mates would walk off the field with me because we've spoken about it. Even if we are losing a game, we wouldn't care one iota because we would be be making a stand against racism", Williams explained in a preview clip of the interview released by Movistar+.

"In today's world, in the 21st Century, this kind of behaviour just isn't acceptable. It shouldn't matter what colour skin you have, what race, what sex you are. Any kind of harassment has no place in football. Hopefully, it won't happen again, but I know that I have the support of a lot of people - as was shown in Tenerife and through the messages I've received on social media," he concluded.
