After being named Player of the Match in Spain’s World Cup quarterfinal win over Belgium, Lamine Yamal spoke about reaching the semifinals, facing France and Kylian Mbappé, his growing confidence, and a birthday celebration waiting with his family.

“I’m really happy, and now it’s time to think about the next one. I’m happy we got through, and I felt good.”

On not scoring

“It doesn’t frustrate me. I won the Euros scoring just one goal. As long as we keep advancing, I’ll be very happy. The team is what matters.”
