Coronavirus concerns lead DFL to suspend Bundesliga fixtures
The German governing body issued a statement on Friday evening citing the escalation of coronavirus cases and concern as the mitigating factor.

The Bundesliga has followed the example of other major European leagues and announced a suspension to games in German Bundesliga I and II.

The statement claimed that both competitions would be on hold through to April 2nd and cited public concern about the spread of the Covid-19 virus as a factor. It added that the case of a second tier team Hannover 96 player testing positive for the virus and the home quarantine which was also prescribed for the entire 1. FC Nuremberg team by a local health authority as two other key motives for the steps.
The initiative comes after both Ligue 1 and the English Premier League also confirmed earlier on
Friday that both leagues would cease activity as a deterrent to curb the Covid-19 virus.
