Gareth Bale hit the headlines earlier this week following the news that the Welsh player had donated half a million euro to hospitals in his adopted city of Madrid along with 500,000 pounds to the NHS in his native Cardiff. Despite certain outlets seeing the gesture as an  emphasis in his commitment to the Spanish capital, the player simply wanted to make a generous donation to two cities that have shaped his life. As his agent Jonathan Barnett explained to AS in a recent interview: 'Gareth loves Madrid and his lifestyle there'

AS has been informed from sources close to the player that the past eight weeks of lockdown in the Spanish capital have strengthened the strikers resolve to see out his contract with Real Madrid. His current deal expires on June 30 (2022) with the Cardiff born player currently earning an annual salary of 14.5 million euro and holds a market value of 32 million euro according to transfer specialists Transfermarkt. In his time wearing the famous white shirt, the 30-year-old has played  in 249 games for Madrid bagging 105 goals in that time, with three coming in  Champions League finals.

His relationship with coach Zidane is far from buoyant and this factor was instrumental in a failed move to Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning last summer. The move ultimately floundered and the French coach opted to player the Welsh striker along with Eden Hazard and Karim Benzema with the 2019/20 season being a disappointment for the player. As things stand, Bale is determined to see out his deal with the Spanish side.
